Kristen N. Bailey, MD
Dr. Kristen N. Bailey is a board certified adult psychiatrist and commissioned officer in the United States Navy. Originally from the Bay Area, CA, she has spent the majority of her career training and practicing along the eastern seaboard. Dr. Bailey received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Howard University, in Washington, DC where she explored a range of interest and activities. She spent two summers as a Chemist at The Boeing Company working with commercial aircraft and aerospace systems; participated in a medical mission in Lima, Peru; conducted chemistry research at the University of Western Cape in Cape Town, South Africa; and served as treasurer for the Howard University Robotics Organization. Ultimately, it was her passion for improving health outcomes in underserved communities that drove her decision to pursue a career in medicine.
Dr. Bailey received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC. During her studies, she pursued various leadership roles, including serving as President of the Class of 2019 and Associate Regional Director of the Student National Medical Association, a student-run medical organization whose aim is to increase diversity in healthcare.
Dr. Bailey went on to complete her internship in Family Medicine at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, FL, but quickly found her true passion in mental health care. She completed her Psychiatry residency at National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland in 2023.
Throughout her journey, Dr. Bailey has received numerous honors and awards. At Howard University College of Medicine, she received the Pioneer Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and service and was appointed to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Most recently, she received the Joint Service Award Medal for her performance during residency training. Dr. Bailey currently serves as a psychiatrist at Naval Station Norfolk where she provides mental healthcare to over 15,000 active duty beneficiaries. Her personal interest in the mental health field is working with patients suffering from serious mental illnesses.
